Encounters are made up by these moments. Moments of transition, particles bouncing off one another until particles attract. We seem to gather a great burden throughout our lives. Incident after incident gets stacked up upon one another and people end up carrying a giant stack of shit upon their backs. Heaving and hoeing, one foot in front of the other, another thing happens in our lives, another thing that we have to deal with, another thing that we have to carry for the rest of our lives. Some people carry handbags of shit, some people are left to carry mountains of shit. And so they carry these things as a burden. It is a symbol of strength to carry a large amount of shit with you throughout your life. Broken relationships, no relationships, dead friends, dead parents, dead children… These are the things that all stack up and we must carry throughout our lives. That and more. It leaves a unique imprint on the individual… They are left contorted and twisted.
Alice was left twisted in her own culture. Born of Asian heritage, she idolised the west and Californian culture. She became a freak occurrence of the media’s effect. She bought the skin whitening cream, she followed the latest fashion trends as dictated by European or American culture. The load of shit that the Western world had thrown at her, she bought into. The fashion magazines that told her she needed to look like someone else to be beautiful. She bought into it all.
Edward was brought up in a family where the father dedicated his entire life to the pursuit of experimental film. As a child, Edward had no account of what other children were doing as they were raised in a normal circumstance. It could be compared to a cult, where Edward’s father, lacking recognition from any mainstream media, sat his children down and indoctrinated them into idolisation of their father and his films. With the dictator-styled rhetoric of the scenario that they were the normal ones and the rest of the world was crazy. As a child Edward had bought into it all. As he grew older he slowly began to realise something else was going on…
Both of them were freaks like a mentally disabled child ejaculating on a picture of dead puppies. That said, the world and its cultural output had left them standing in the corner of the modern world. Both carrying big mountains of shit as burdens on their back. Strong in spirit for their expressions of individuality.
It was a beautiful thing that fate had twisted itself to let these two cross paths. When the world has such a negative output, negativity compacts upon negativity, problems account for more problems, shit leads into more shit, and finally a gleaming white light of pure energy perpetrates the surface and comes shining through.
What would happen next is up to the random assortment of chaos. Chaos in its veracity. Chaos in its most sublime and eccentric nature. That is, anything could happen. And nothing could happen. But the thought that something could happen was sublime enough for the time being.
